Emmanuel Wasswa

Emmanuel Wasswa is an Associate and a member of the Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial departments.

Emmanuel is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all subordinate Courts and was called to the bar in 2018 and has over 4 years of experience in legal practice.

Before joining AF Mpanga Advocates, Emmanuel worked with CR. Amanya Advocates and Solicitors acting as the Head of the Firm’s Dispute Resolution Department where he represented leading financial institutions, government agencies, private companies, and high net worth individuals in high profiled court cases.

Emmanuel is passionate about representing clients in commercial disputes at the commercial court of Uganda and has represented a leading insurance company in a transactional dispute helping the company RECOUP costs under the principle of subrogation. He is also involved in arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. He has ably represented clients in land, employment and domestic disputes in the different Ugandan Courts.

Emmanuel has successfully handled various labour disputes for different financial institutions, reputable local and international companies and NGO’s saving the organisations millions of monies from unfounded labour claims. He has equally handled Debt collection for various financial institutions and where necessary escalating the recovery by way of litigation.

Emmanuel has also been involved in high profiled criminal cases and was part of the team that represented and defended a high-profile government official that was charged with aggravated robbery.

Emmanuel actively engages in transactional work at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau wherein he has registered various companies with the Registrar of Companies, trademarks with the Registrar of trademarks, copyrights with the Registrar of Copyrights and Non- Governmental organizations with the NGO Bureau. Emmanuel has equally participated in conducting due diligences leading to acquisitions and mergers of different companies and entities.

Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from Uganda Christian University, Mukono and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.
