He specializes in intellectual property registrations and litigation, real estate conveyancing, banking law and practice, international trade and securitization. His expertise extends to insurance, finance, and local and international arbitration.
Frederick is regionally and globally renowned for his excellence in the IP space. He has for many years provided advisory to Coca cola (trading as Century Bottling limited in Uganda) regarding product certification, branding and passing off actions from other traders in the Ugandan market. Frederick J. Mpanga appeared before the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament in a special session on the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Bill (eventually passed as the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Act, 2006. He was also part of a panel of experts set up by the Uganda Law Society to draw up a critique and propose amendments to the Trademarks Bill, eventually enacted as the Trademarks Act, 2010.
He has a LLB Hons from Makerere University, Uganda, and a LLM from the University of Cambridge, UK. Frederick is also a lecturer of law at Makerere University.
